In 2020 we were reminded that we set the parameters of our art and we have the ability and responsibility to adapt, adjust, and transform based on the needs of the community we are serving. For our 9th Season, Savannah Stage Company is taking everything we’ve learned and transforming and applying it to something newer, something richer, and something more accessible than ever. We’re taking risks, we’re telling stories, and we’re finding new gold in old places. Join us as we introduce our all new Teen Company, as we discover and build a fresh week of B.I.G. Camp, and explore a classic tale sure to have you seeing things in a brand new way!
DRACULA
adapted from Bram Stocker’s novel by Catherine Bush
The vampire Dracula flees Transylvania for London, where the teeming population provides ample fodder for their blood-thirst. Only Agatha Van Helsing, the world famous metaphysician, has a hope of stopping the Undead. Can Van Helsing save the day? Or will her heroic efforts merely render her the next victim to Dracula’s deadly bite? A fresh new take on a timeless horror classic!
In the director’s chair is SSC staple and Connect Savannah’s BEST LOCAL ACTRESS of 2019 and BEST LOCAL VOCALIST 2017-2020, Lexi Balaoing Ambrose. In the title role of Dracula is another SSC leading lady, Ashley Cook. Ashley was voted BEST LOCAL ACTRESS by the reads of Connect Savannah in 2017 and 2018. Leading the hunt for Dracula as Van Helsing is played by Megan Wellman Blanton, last seen in SSC’s Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Dracula also stars company favorites Ellen Barneycastle as Lucy and McKenna Lyons, voted BEST LOCAL ACTRESS of 2020 by the readers of Connect Savannah, as inmate Reinfeld. SSC welcomes new company members Luisa Nolasco as Mina, Kory Johnson as Jonathon Harker, and Wesley Pridgen as Jack Steward.
The Tragedy of Julius Caesar
Beware, there’s conspiracy, betrayal. and power in the air this summer.
Mischief, thou art afoot. Jealous conspirators led by Cassius, convince Caesar's closest friend Brutus to join their assassination plot against Caesar. To put a stop to Caesar gaining too much power, Brutus and the conspirators know what they must do - find and end him. This summer the heightened world of Shakespeare is handled thoughtfully by the most unexpected of choices -teenagers!
