season 10: a milestone season of fearlessness

Things that seemed impossible a decade ago not only exist today, but are growing, thriving, and evolving. Each and every soul that has encountered our work was just a dream 10 years ago. This year Savannah Stage Company encourages each and everyone to seek their dreams and live a life of fearlessness.

THE FULL MONTY

Based on the original 1997 British comedy, this musical adaptation brings the story to America. Our main protagonists are six unemployed steelworkers from Buffalo, New York. All six are out of cash and out of options. After their wives experience a touring Chippendales performance, the guys get the idea to start their own local strip act. The show will take place at a local club and will be the best act around, because they’ll all go “the full monty.” As they prepare to strip completely nude, the men come face to face with their own self-consciousness and inner demons.

While the laughs are plentiful, the show examines deeper themes. Its commentary on unemployment, fathers’ rights, depression, impotence, homosexuality, body image, working class culture, and suicide garnered accolades from critics world wide. The original Broadway production was nominated for 9 Tony Awards in 2001.

brave the stage: an evening of running towards the fear

Brave the Stage is an opportunity for our company members to run towards the fear and strengthen the onstage skills that scare them the most. It’s easy to rely on the things we do well, what happens when we run towards the things that we don’t?

From stage combat to burlesque and everything in between, our Company Members are matched with another artists that will serve as their mentor for that skill. These projects will be showcased alongside other acts of bravery on Saturday July 23rd at 8pm at the Pop Up Playhouse at FBC located at 102 McDonough St.
